Things You Can Do Immediately To Improve Conversions To Your Site PDF Print E-mail

My clients will sometimes tell me they have a website and get some traffic. But don't really get much conversion or repeat business.

Here are some keys that I find help sites to draw repeat visitors, be naturally attractive to the search engines and ultimately build a loyal following:

1.  Stay current. All too often I have seen a business owner pay to have a website built and then not regularly update it or create on it. Adding new fresh content is important for customers visiting your site. If they see only obsolete content or info that is no longer relevant, they may decide to move on and find a more updated site for their info.

 



2.  Provide information that is useful to your visitors. I can not overstate how important it is to have well-written, informative and relevent content on your website. Your market is generally searching for an answer to a specific question and if your website gives them those answers, they will likely remember it and come back. Having a clean, professional and easy to use website is also important to making sure they have a good experience using your site. Make sure the information you provide is well-researched and accurate and has no spelling or grammatical mistakes.

3.  Properly direct your clients to where you want them to go. David and I were recently asked for help by a friend who was spending a lot of money on affiliate marketing for his site, but just wasn't getting a lot of sales. Looking at his site, it was right away kind of obvious why. In addition to his site being cluttered, his key product he wanted to sell was hidden at the bottom right of his page. He was routing his potential customers to everywhere except the place that would ultimately make him money. To fix this, we made changes which uncluttered his home page and put his money making search feature cleanly, but prominently at the top of the page where it belonged (and really why people were coming to his page in the first place). His site revenue immediately increased by 500%.
